Introduction
Abettor exists to help people preserve continuity in their lives. We believe personal information should remain under the control of the people it describes.
This Privacy Policy explains what information Abettor collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies when you visit our website, apply for beta access, create an account, or use Abettor products and services (collectively, the “Service”).
We write this policy in plain language because trust starts with clarity. If anything here is unclear, please reach out — we are happy to explain.
Information We Collect
We collect information in a few straightforward categories:
- Account and profile information. When you register, we collect details such as your email address, username, and display name. You choose what to share in your profile.
- Beta application information. If you apply for beta access, we collect the information you submit in your application, such as your name, contact details, location, and answers about how you hope to use Abettor.
- Content you provide. Information, notes, preferences, and other content you add to Abettor to support your continuity goals.
- Communications. Messages you send us, such as support requests or beta feedback.
- Technical and usage information. Basic data needed to operate the Service, such as device type, browser, IP address, log data, and how you interact with features. This helps us keep the Service running, secure, and understandable.
- Cookies and similar technologies. We use cookies and similar tools where needed for sign-in, security, and basic site functionality.
How We Use Information
We use the information we collect only to operate and improve Abettor. That includes:
- Providing, maintaining, and personalizing the Service
- Processing beta applications and managing accounts
- Communicating with you about your account, beta status, or the Service
- Understanding how features are used so we can improve them
- Protecting the Service, our users, and Abettor from abuse or harm
- Complying with legal obligations when required
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your information to build advertising profiles or for unrelated marketing purposes.
AI Features and Third-Party Processing
Some Abettor features use artificial intelligence to help you with tasks you request. When you use those features, content you provide may be processed by third-party AI providers solely to deliver the functionality you asked for.
We choose providers carefully and limit what is shared to what is needed for the feature to work. We do not authorize providers to use your content for their own unrelated purposes.
You remain in control of what you choose to submit to AI-assisted features. If you prefer not to use those features, you can avoid them or limit what you share.
Data Ownership
You own the information you put into Abettor. We do not claim ownership of your personal content, records, or continuity materials.
Abettor acts as a steward of that information while you use the Service — holding and processing it so the product can work for you. That stewardship comes with responsibility on our part, and with meaningful choices on yours.
Data Sharing
We do not sell personal information. We share information only in limited circumstances:
- Service providers. Trusted vendors who help us operate Abettor — such as hosting, email delivery, authentication, analytics needed to run the product, and AI providers for requested features. They may access information only to perform services for us and are expected to protect it.
- With your direction. When you ask us to share information or use a feature that requires sharing.
- Legal and safety. When we believe disclosure is reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to valid legal requests, or protect the rights, safety, and integrity of Abettor, our users, or others.
- Business transfers. If Abettor is involved in a merger, acquisition, or similar transaction, information may transfer as part of that process. We will continue to treat it under this policy or notify you of meaningful changes.
Data Retention
We keep information for as long as needed to provide the Service, maintain your account, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
When information is no longer needed for those purposes, we take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify it. Retention during beta may be shorter or less predictable while we are still building — see the Beta Program Notice below.
Your Rights and Choices
You have meaningful choices about your information:
- Access and updates. You can review and update much of your account and profile information through the Service where those tools are available.
- Deletion requests. You may ask us to delete your personal information. We will honor reasonable requests, subject to limits such as information we must keep for legal, security, or operational reasons.
- Communication choices. You can opt out of non-essential messages where we offer that option.
- Cookies. You can adjust browser settings to limit cookies, though some parts of the Service may not work without them.
To exercise these choices, contact us at beta@abettor.us. We will respond as promptly as we reasonably can.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal information, including access controls and secure infrastructure practices appropriate for a service at our stage.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to reduce risk and respond to issues we become aware of.
Beta Program Notice
Abettor is currently in beta. Features, data handling, and availability may change as we learn and improve the product.
During beta, you should maintain independent copies of anything important. Do not treat Abettor as your only record of critical information until the product is more mature and we say otherwise.
Beta access is limited and may be paused or withdrawn. We appreciate your patience and feedback as we build something worth trusting.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will post the updated policy and revise the effective date above.
Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy. If you do not agree, please stop using the Service and contact us about your account.
